This Colorado homeowner wanted to retain trees and some of the perennials in the front yard of her attractive contemporary home, but she needed to replace her lawn with an inviting garden that would require little water once established.
Home Outside designer Anna Johansen suggested removing a freestanding wall to open up the entryway and created a welcoming garden of native perennials and small flowering trees. A stepping-stone path leads to a seating terrace backed by low to mid-height shrubs and perennials. (Read our blog post about why you should ‘back up’ your outdoor seating here.) The circular terrace is immersed in plants yet open to the street, giving this sociable family a place to relax and greet their neighbors.
“This looks beautiful! I can’t wait until spring when we can actually get to work. Thank you so much to the Home Outside staff!”
