CHALLENGE

This homeowner wanted to maximize sustainability with an array of flowering and edible plants at her country home in Brazil.

SOLUTIONS

Home Outside designed a cottage garden oasis with a curving walking path, water feature, fruit orchard, outdoor kitchen, raised beds, and comfortable places to sit and enjoy it all with family and friends.

Fence and driveway gate adds privacy and security. An agapanthus hedge softens the edge between fence and the cobblestone street.

A sweeping gravel walkway tours the front yard’s bold, colorful, curving garden beds.

Approach the front door from a curved stone staircase. A small water fountain nestled in the garden is a sensory reward for climbing the steps, the sounds also enjoyed from inside the adjacent solarium.

Vegetable garden raised planters and blueberry bushes fill a corner adjacent to the outdoor kitchen area and backyard dining patio.

Curving entry path from driveway pergola into backyard garden and patio. All peastone paths are edged with cobblestone to keep gravel in place.

Fruit trees, grape vines, raspberry hedge make use of the steeply sloping sunny side yard close to the storage shed and the compost bins in the shady backyard corner.
