This Kit Includes

  • Amelanchier x grandiflora ‘Autumn Brilliance’ (Autumn Brilliance serviceberry) A plant for all seasons, this North American native hybrid has natural beauty and ecological significance. Spring brings white, bee-filled flowers and by late summer, the birds start flocking to its edible berries, especially the cedar waxwings (Bombycilla cedrorum). Autumn will bring a rich array of red-orange foliage and winter will reveal the smooth, muscular bark of its trunks. This plant is host to red-spotted purple (Limenitis arthemis) and viceroy butterflies (Limenitis archippus). Happiest in moist, fertile soils, this multi-stemmed tree can also tolerate a wide range of soils and conditions.
  • Salvia x sylvestris ‘May Night’ (May Night wood sage) Another mint family favorite, this aromatic herb is well suited for the leading edge of a dry garden where it can attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds en masse. Also known as ‘Mainacht’, this early summer bloomer exhibits rich, fuzzy, violet-blue spikes alongside the catmints, yarrows, and early daylilies. This plant can be deadheaded to intersecting branches for repeat blooms with moderate effort or cut down to basal growth for rejuvenation.
